Stronger Together: Serving with Compassion, Growing in Faith

As we reflect on Philippians 2:2—"make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind"—we’re reminded that true impact comes when we walk in unity. That spirit of togetherness is shining brightly through the work God is doing through Mission of Hope International, and we’re so grateful to walk this journey with you.

Pastor Lex has just returned to Massachusetts from his time in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. There is such enmity between these two countries that we love, that even traveling between them requires creativity. He will go way out of the way to avoid any areas that have been attacked and overtaken by gangs, while we remain vigilant in prayer for all those affected. Here's a short video of a moment of his travel time, which spanned 17 hours from start to finish.

Caring for the Community in Haiti

In the clinic at our Thozin campus, compassionate care is making a real difference in the lives of our students and their families. Through our partnership with Bless Back Worldwide, we’re able to provide consistent, quality healthcare that builds trust and strengthens our school community. Whether treating a toddler or a high school student, our medical team offers thoughtful, respectful care that reflects the love of Christ. It’s not just about treating illness—it’s about affirming each person’s dignity and reminding them they are seen, valued, and cared for.

To continue providing this level of care, we depend heavily on a reliable power source. Electricity is essential for everything from accessing medical records to running lab equipment and simply keeping the lights on. Right now, our solar/inverter system at the clinic is down, and we’re operating under limited conditions. We need to raise approximately $5,000 to complete essential repairs and replace aged-out batteries so we can restore sustainable electricity to the clinic.

If you're able, would you consider making a gift today toward this urgent need? Your generosity will directly impact the health and well-being of the children and families we serve.👉 Give now to help restore power to the clinic.

Education from Preschool to Graduation

In Haiti, our school campus is alive with activity and purpose. From the youngest preschoolers to high school graduates preparing for their next steps, our students are growing in knowledge and character. Their creativity, joy, and determination inspire us every day.

Feeding Body and Soul

One of the most impactful parts of our ministry continues to be our feeding programs.

Whether it’s a full plate of rice and beans or a sweet treat, every meal reminds our students and babies that they are loved and not forgotten. The care extends to our kitchen staff and program leaders who serve with hearts full of compassion. This past week Pastor Lex purchased "krèm mayi" (literal translation "corn ice cream"), an ice cream treat on a stick, for all of the preschoolers - and hard candies for the older ones. It was a time of great fun with music, dancing, and laughter.

Celebrating Haitian Mothers

Today is Mother’s Day in Haiti—a holiday second only to Christmas and Easter in its significance. And rightly so. Haitian mothers are among the most courageous women we know. The students at MOHI have been working hard all month, preparing a special presentation for the mothers this morning. I encourage you to take a look at the following short video clips. We are very proud of them!

We honor the strength of every mom who withstood unimaginable challenges and hardships to carry her child to term. We celebrate those who have done all they can—often with very little—to nurture, protect, and provide for their children. Your love is fierce, your sacrifices are sacred, and your presence is a blessing.“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” – Proverbs 31:25

Leadership Behind the Scenes

We’re so grateful for the team that works diligently in the background, making sure everything flows smoothly. Administrative staff in Haiti and the Dominican Republic keep track of student records, ensure finances are handled responsibly, and keep communication clear between campuses. Their faithfulness reflects 1 Peter 4:10—"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others."

Hope Rising in the Dominican Republic

In Luperón, our team continues to sow seeds—both figuratively and literally!

Our garden is flourishing and supporting our feeding programs, and now we’re preparing to raise chickens for fresh eggs. This sustainable agriculture effort will bless our babies in the START NOW program and also benefit our mission teams.

We’re also seeing great momentum in the Bless Back Business Academy. Aquilina is teaching the second round of business classes and personally visiting participants’ businesses to offer guidance. The impact is tangible as entrepreneurs apply what they’re learning and build stronger foundations for their futures. Bruno is also faithfully investing in these entrepreneurs and in other community students through our English and computer literacy classes. These practical skills are opening doors and helping students grow in confidence and opportunity.

New Beginnings and Forward Movement

In Haiti, construction continues on a new home for Marie Rose and her children—a gift from a generous, consistent partner. We are seeing lives changed, stability created, and dignity restored.

We’re Almost There!

Our next big step is finalizing the purchase of the Mission House in the Dominican Republic. This space will serve as a hub for ministry—hosting teams, leadership meetings, the medical ministry, and training programs. We’ve already raised $39,850, with another $30,000 pledged. That leaves just $10,150 to go!

Would you consider helping us close that gap this week? 👉 Click here to donate today! Every gift brings us closer to securing a place where lives will be impacted for generations to come.

Join Us This Summer

We’d also love to extend an invitation: There’s still room for volunteers (August 9 - 16) to serve with us this summer! Whether you’re a skilled professional or simply have a heart to help, we welcome you to join our mission on the ground in the Dominican Republic. There’s no better time than now.

Honoring Memorial Day

As we celebrate this Memorial Day weekend, we want to pause and express our deepest gratitude for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. We honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of freedom and peace.

Our hearts and prayers are with the moms and dads, spouses, siblings, children, and dear friends whose lives were forever changed by that sacrifice. May the LORD comfort and strengthen you, and may the memory of your loved one always be a light that inspires hope and courage in the rest of us.“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” – John 15:13

Together, We Are Stronger

To all our partners—thank you. Whether you pray, give, serve, or encourage, you are part of this story. As Galatians 6:9 reminds us, "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

We’re pressing forward together—by faith, with joy, and in unity.
