Trusting God, Serving Others

This past week at our church in Thozin, Haiti, we spent time reflecting on the subject of trusting in Jesus. A common verse that many of us know focuses on this topic:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." ~ Proverbs 3:5–6
For many of us, these verses are a source of encouragement during uncertain seasons.
For the families we serve in Haiti, they are often a daily reality.
Many parents wake each morning not knowing whether they will find work that day. Others sell a few items in the marketplace, hoping they will earn enough to buy food for their children. Some continue rebuilding their lives after being displaced by violence and instability.
In circumstances like these, trusting God isn't simply a comforting idea—it becomes a daily act of faith.
This week, we were reminded that God often works through ordinary people who choose to love, serve, and invest in others.
Meet Wesley
Meet Wesley, an eight-year-old boy who was recently enrolled in our kindergarten class in Thozin, Haiti. His older sister already attends our school.
When Wesley's mother, Nadia, came to register him, she shared how difficult the past several years have been for their family. Although she knows Wesley is older than most children beginning kindergarten, she simply hasn't been able to afford to send him to school.
As a new school year begins, we would love to find Wesley a sponsor.
What a joy it would be to tell his mother that someone has chosen to invest in her son's future by helping provide his education, daily meals, school supplies, and access to healthcare.

Simple Meals, Lasting Joy
One of the joys of our feeding programs in the Dominican Republic is finding new ways to bless the children we serve.
This week, Wednesday's lunch included rice and vegetables and hard-boiled eggs from our chickens.
On Thursday, the children enjoyed a special mixed fruit juice with their meal, which was a special treat.
Sometimes the simplest moments become the most memorable.
Encouraging Those Who Lead
This week we were grateful to welcome Pastor Dave, who spent time encouraging pastors and their wives from churches throughout the region.
More than twenty leaders gathered to learn, fellowship, and grow together. Pastor Dave shared about servant leadership, reminding everyone that true leadership begins with serving others.
Following the gathering, several pastors reached out to tell us how deeply encouraged they were. More than one shared that they felt God had sent Pastor Dave with exactly the message they needed to hear.
A special part of the day was seeing women from several different churches come together to prepare and serve a special meal for everyone attending.
It was a beautiful reminder of the unity and generosity that make the Body of Christ so special.
Living Our Core Values
Everything we do at Mission of Hope International is shaped by a set of core values that guide the way we serve people, work together, and build relationships.

This is how God often works.
He takes ordinary acts of faithfulness and uses them to accomplish extraordinary things.
Thank you for trusting God alongside us. Your prayers, generosity, and partnership continue to bring hope to children, families, churches, and communities throughout Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
