Today's update is from Taran
This week at Mission of Hope International, we have been reminded in so many ways of a simple truth: we are better together.
Scripture speaks clearly about this principle.
In Ecclesiastes 4, we are told that two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. In 1 Corinthians, Paul reminds us that some plant, others water, but God brings the increase. Each person plays a different role, yet every role matters. The Body of Christ functions best when every part works together.
And this week, we have seen that truth come alive.

Sun, Sea & Sisterhood – Strength in Fellowship
The women attending Sun, Sea & Sisterhood have had an incredible week filled with worship, teaching, fellowship, and meaningful connection.

The sessions have been life-giving. Morning devotions have been rich. Worship times have been powerful and deeply moving. One evening, Annabelle and Sierra sang a cappella, and the place was filled with a sweet sense of God’s presence. Moments like that remind us why gathering together matters.
Beyond the sessions themselves, something beautiful has been happening relationally. Women are growing deeper in their relationships with one another while also reaching out and including others. New friendships are forming. Encouragement is flowing freely. Walls are coming down.

One especially meaningful moment was the underwear drive.
Alexis and Brittany spearheaded an underwear drive and brought new underwear for the boys and girls in the village. When the children received them, their excitement was contagious. They especially loved the pairs with little characters on them. Something so simple — something many of us take for granted — brought so much joy.

It was a powerful reminder that dignity matters. Small gifts can communicate great love.

The group has shared meals with children, enjoyed time at the beach, and experienced sweet fellowship and refreshment together. It has also been a blessing to have Luke with us, capturing meaningful moments through video and helping us tell the story of what God is doing.

They shared a moment where some of the women sponsoring children in Haiti had the opportunity to FaceTime with their sponsored children. It was very special.

We would greatly appreciate your continued prayers for the women as they finish out this week — that what God has begun in their hearts would continue long after they return home.
Haiti – Serving with Compassion
In Haiti, we are also seeing the beauty of partnership.
Pastor Edon shared that the women’s singing group from the church, called Deborah, is preparing a fundraising concert. Their goal is to help cover hospital costs for individuals who do not have the financial means to receive the care they need. This is local leadership stepping forward to care for their own community.

It is powerful. It is inspiring. It is better together.

At the school, many children have been experiencing fevers and coughs. Thankfully, we have an on-site clinic with incredible medical staff who are monitoring and caring for them. We ask for your prayers that this bout of sickness would pass quickly and that the children would regain full strength soon.

We are also excited about the continued development of the physical therapy clinic. This expansion will allow us to serve patients with rehabilitation needs who would otherwise go untreated. We are thrilled to be adding two new individuals to our staff who will serve in this office.

Growth is happening — because people are working together.
And every single day, more than 1,200 people are being fed. In a country where food access continues to be difficult and uncertain, this is no small thing.
Dominican Republic – Breaking Barriers
One of the most beautiful pictures of “better together” has been seeing our Dominican staff serving in Haitian bateys.

Historically, there has been deep tension and prejudice between these two groups. Yet here we are — working side by side. Laughing together. Serving together. Caring for children together.
Walls are coming down.Relationships are forming.Trust is growing.
That is Kingdom work.
There is also a hilarious and heartwarming image of Pastor Lex riding a child’s bike while the kids push him along, laughing the whole time. The children always light up when Lex visits.

But the image is more than funny — it is symbolic.
One generation investing in the next.Leadership being passed forward.Joy shared across ages.
The work doesn’t stop with one person or one season. It grows. It multiplies. It advances.
The Power of Partnership
When we talk about being better together, we are not just speaking about what happens in Haiti or the Dominican Republic.
We are talking about you, too.
This is one team.
One body.
One mission.
This ministry does not function because of one leader or one small group. It thrives because of:
Doctors, dentists, nurses, lab technicians, and pharmacists
Teachers and school administrators
Maintenance staff who keep campuses safe and beautiful
Kitchen teams preparing meals daily
Business academy teachers investing in future entrepreneurs
Administrative staff keeping everything organized
Volunteers who travel to serve
Churches who pray
Donors who give
Families who sponsor children
Some plant. Some water.God brings the harvest.
Together, we are serving and impacting thousands.
Thank You
Thank you to those who share this mission with your families, churches, and organizations.
A special thank you to New England Chapel and Mike Trudel for sharing about sponsorship this past week.

As Lex and Renee prepare to spend a few months back in the States, they would love to visit your church or connect over a meal. If your church or organization would like to schedule a visit, please reach out by email to support@mohintl.org. We would be honored to connect.
Better together is not just a theme.
It is the way the Kingdom works.
And we are grateful to be serving alongside you.
