God’s Faithfulness Through Every Generation

This past week, I’ve been reflecting on the beauty of faithfulness—God’s faithfulness to us, and the faithfulness of friends and partners who have walked this journey with us for so many years. Scripture tells us: “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations…” (Deuteronomy 7:9)

As I share these updates with you, I hope you see how His covenant love continues to touch lives in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and even here in the United States.

Dominican Republic: New Joy in the Villages

Mèt Ben recently described the joy he feels when he drives into the villages for the Hope Squad. Children now run to greet him, eager to help carry supplies—especially the jump ropes and soccer balls. When we first started, many of those same children stayed back, too accustomed to disappointment. But now? Their expectation has turned into excitement. Praise God for this progress!

This month, we were also able to bring Zamy, who translated for our July teams, onto our DR team to help lead the Hope Squad. The timing was perfect. We had just received funding to expand into a second village, and we knew that Mèt Ben was carrying too heavy a load. God always provides at just the right moment.

And there’s more joy to celebrate—our chicken project in Luperón reached a new milestone this week. For the very first time, the children enjoyed chicken and rice from our own flock!

And yesterday… our very first baby bunny was born at MOHI! These small victories remind us that God multiplies even the tiniest beginnings. “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…” (Zechariah 4:10)

At the Bless Back Business Academy in Luperón, Bruno has been faithfully teaching English and computer competency. These are practical skills that empower small business owners not only to grow in knowledge but also to confidently engage with customers and expand their opportunities. We are so grateful for his dedication to equipping local entrepreneurs and students.

One of my favorite moments this past week came from Nurse Marlouse. Some children had been sent home from school because of lice. Although she gave parents instructions and supplies to address it, some families didn’t follow through, and the children missed school. Marlouse decided enough was enough—she went to each home, washed the children’s hair herself, and spoke heart-to-heart with each mother. Days later, those kids were welcomed back into school. The joy in both the children and their parents was palpable. What a picture of Christ’s love in action!

Haiti: Miracles in the Classroom and the Clinic

In Haiti, we continue to see God’s faithfulness shine. Pastor Edon, Roselande, and Remy were bursting with pride as they shared the results of the 9th-grade national exams: another 100% passing rate for 38 of our students! For Pastor Edon, who has labored alongside us for 25 years, this was deeply rewarding. And for Remy—once a preschooler at MOHI, now an administrator and teacher—it was especially touching to hear his students tell him, “I wouldn’t have passed without you. Thank you!” Seeds planted long ago are bearing fruit today.

At the clinic, God’s mercy is evident daily. One mother, desperate to help her sick child, had turned to a voudou practitioner for 18 days with no improvement. When she finally came to the clinic at MOHI, her child was severely dehydrated. Our staff immediately gave IV fluids, and by the end of the visit, that little girl walked home on her own. Praise God!

Zacharie also shared about two men who came asking, “Is this Pastor Lexidan’s place? We’ve heard of the miracles here—are they true?” What a joy it was for him to affirm how God is moving through the clinic, bringing both physical healing and hope. He said he felt so proud to be part of MOHI. And truly, everyone who gives—whether time, prayer, or resources—is part of this story.

USA: Long-Standing Partners

This week Lex and I spent a wonderful day with Joe and Lori Ruscito. Many years ago, before MOHI even began, I worked for them. They were gracious employers who stood by me during difficult pregnancies. When MOHI was just a dream, Joe and Lori became our very first supporters and child sponsors. And now, 25 years later, they are still faithfully walking alongside us.

As we reminisced, I was struck again by how God blesses His people through relationships. He has not only sustained the work of MOHI, but also surrounded us with friends and partners who make the journey sweeter.

A Call to Action

When you sponsor a child through MOHI, you are sowing into these very stories—children discovering joy and confidence in the DR, students in Haiti passing exams against all odds, families experiencing compassion through medical care, and communities celebrating milestones together. Sponsorship is not just about providing food, education, or medical care (though those are crucial!). It’s about giving a child hope for the future and showing them that God sees them and loves them.

Would you consider sponsoring a child today? Your partnership allows us to keep writing these stories of faithfulness together.

Thank You

Lex and I often say that MOHI is so much more than “Pastor and Madame Lex.” It’s a living testimony of what God can do when people join hearts, prayers, and resources together. We are humbled and grateful to share this journey with you. Thank you for being faithful partners in this work.
