Love That Reminds

Today's update is from Jonathan and Taran

There are many people in the communities we serve who could easily feel alone.

Forgotten.

Overlooked by the world around them.

But because of you—that is not their story.

Because of sponsors, children are reminded every day that they matter.Because of partners like Bless Back Worldwide, those who are hurting receive care and compassion.Because of faithful supporters who give consistently, hope continues to reach people who might otherwise feel unseen and unloved.

Scripture reminds us that God will never leave us or forsake us.

And so often, His love is made visible through His people.

Through your generosity.Through your prayers.Through your willingness to stand in the gap.

God is using you—your gifts, your support, your hands and feet—to bring love and hope to others.

And this week, we’ve seen that in so many ways.

Dominican Republic Updates

Serving Across Communities

We were so encouraged to see Tiké and his family serving in the Haitian community of La Grua this week.

Many of you may remember Tiké from his years faithfully leading worship in the church in Thozin. It’s been beautiful to see him continue to serve and invest in others, building relationships and pouring into the community.

Consistent Care That Changes Lives

The ongoing work of our Community Health Promoter program continues to bring stability to individuals living with chronic conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes.

Each week, Marlous:

  • Refills medications

  • Checks blood pressure and sugar levels

  • Encourages patients

  • Teaches practical steps for healthy living

This kind of consistent, relational care is making a lasting impact in people’s lives.

Small Habits, Big Impact

This week, we began teaching children in La Grua to wash their hands before meals.

It’s a simple habit—but one that will go a long way in improving health and reducing sickness.

Moments like these remind us that transformation often starts with small, intentional steps.

Prayer Request

Please continue to pray for Jerry, a young man who is currently in the hospital after being shot in the arm. He was in critical condition, and we are believing for continued healing and strength.

Provision and Joy in Luperón

There was great joy this week as our team harvested beans from the garden in Luperón.

The beans are now being processed and dried so they can be used to provide meals for both visiting teams and children in the community.

It’s always encouraging to see provision coming from the work of our own hands.

And in some lighter news—we are also expecting baby rabbits soon, which our staff is excited about!

Haiti Updates

Faithfulness in Education

Exams continued this week at the school in Grand-Goâve.

Teachers shared how proud they are of the students and the effort they’ve put into their studies this year. It’s a reflection of both the students’ dedication and the consistent investment being made in their education.

The Power of Sponsorship

This week, sponsored children spent time writing letters and coloring pictures for those who support them.

Roseland shared how much the children look forward to this.

For them, this is more than an activity—it’s connection.

Sponsorship provides education, meals, and medical care. But beyond all of that, it communicates something even more powerful:

“You are not alone.”“You matter.”

In a season where Haiti has become increasingly isolated from the rest of the world, it can be easy for people to feel forgotten.

But when you sponsor a child, when you give, when you support—you are standing with them.

You are showing them love in a tangible way.

To all of our sponsors: thank you for investing in the lives of these children.

Compassionate Medical Care

Our medical staff continues to faithfully serve their community, and patients regularly express deep gratitude for the care they receive.

This week, a child came in experiencing a serious medical crisis.

Thanks to the diligence and sound judgment of our medical team, the child was stabilized and cared for.

We are incredibly thankful for the skill and compassion of those serving in our clinics.

Jonathan Update

Update on James’ Journey to Heart Surgery

We have some exciting news to share about James.

On Thursday morning, March 26th, Jonathan received an email confirming that James’ visa is officially ready. This is a huge step forward. The current plan is for James to travel to Texas within the next three to four weeks as he prepares for his life-saving heart surgery.

As is often the case with logistics in Haiti, the process feels like a mix of “hurry up and wait”—long periods of waiting followed by everything moving very quickly all at once. Right now, we are in that transition moment where things are starting to come together rapidly.

Our immediate need is securing a place for James and his caregiver to stay in Plano, Texas before his surgery. Ideally, we are hoping to find a short-term housing option—something like a room or apartment available for about two months, likely from late April through June. If anyone in our network has connections in the Plano area or knows someone who might be willing to offer or rent a space at a reduced rate, we would be incredibly grateful for any leads.

Of course, if we’re unable to find something through connections, we will move forward with renting a place—but we wanted to extend the opportunity for community support first.

In the meantime, Jonathan is already in Haiti doing some consulting work for another organization and plans to visit the school in Grand Goâve at Mission of Hope International in the next couple of weeks. Over the next few weeks, the plan is to bring James to northern Haiti so he can fly to Miami, and then onward to Dallas, where he will be received and prepared for surgery.

We are also keeping the donation link open. Thanks to your generosity, we have already met our initial fundraising goal, and we feel encouraged by where things stand. At the same time, we know that unexpected costs can arise—both during surgery and in the long-term recovery process.

Any additional funds raised will go directly toward James’ ongoing care. After surgery, he will need continued medical support in Haiti, including medications for his new heart valves and regular follow-up care. Beyond that, this support will also help provide for his family during a time when he won’t be able to return to full work right away.

If you feel led to give or to help in any way—whether through housing connections, financial support, or simply sharing this update—we are deeply thankful.

We’re getting closer. Thank you for being part of this journey with James.

Closing Thought

In every story this week—from children writing letters, to patients receiving care, to families being supported—we are reminded of one simple but powerful truth:

No one is forgotten.

Because of God’s love. And because of people like you.

Thank you for being part of this work.
