The Key

SoulFest is happening this week!!! Stop by the MOHI tent and have a chat with us. For those of you who have visited us in Haiti, you'll be happy to see Pastor Hakine is joining us from Haiti, along with some of our Florida friends (Angie Shepherd, Peter & Esther Plastridge)! Alain & Alexis Michel will be there along with their 4 month old son, as well as Lex & Renee Edme. We'll be there for the entire festival, but we also have some other great folks presenting in the MOHI tent. Check out the schedule below and try to join us when you can!

Pastor Hakine will be here in New England for most of August. If you would like to set up a visit with him, or have him come speak to your church, youth group, or other group setting, please contact us with your desired day and we'll do our best to make it happen.

We miss having the students in the yard during summer vacation. Some go away to visit family in the capital city or out in the mountains of Grand-Goave. Many, however, have never known anywhere but home (makes a library a travel agency, too).

I ran into a friend today who is feeling betrayed by her family. She's really hurting. She told me she was going to move to another State, where she had lived before. I couldn't help but ask, "What will that State do for you?" When we feel all alone and think that no one cares, it's easy to want to run away. I've been there myself. She then told me she was going to keep working until she could afford to move.

That reminded me of the situation so many are in in Haiti. Generational poverty totally paralyzes a family. There is no starting over somewhere else, because you couldn't even get there. Whatever reputation you build for yourself, good or bad, it is yours for your life. You can't just move somewhere and start over.

We are so blessed to be able to offer hope to these families. Education is the key to unlock the door to their futures! Whether it's learning to read and write, learning to become a disciple of Jesus, learning to care for your teeth and body, learning to do what you don't feel like doing, learning to play music... it's all available for them at MOHI.

Class Sponsorships make learning a reality. If you don't already sponsor a class, please consider doing so right now. $10, $25, $50, $100 a month - you choose the amount that fits your ability and desire to share hope with our Haitian neighbors. Click here to get started.
