When I reflect on this past week, one word comes to mind: unity. Across Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the USA, and even in Israel this week (as Jordan volunteers her time in an Israeli vineyard), we are working together to build something that none of us could accomplish alone. The Apostle Paul reminds us, “So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another” (Romans 12:5). Every report we heard in our international staff Zoom meeting illustrated this truth so beautifully.

Hope Through Sponsorship (Haiti)

Roselande could hardly contain her excitement as she shared about some newly sponsored children. She literally ran to their homes to deliver the good news. The mothers of these children—who had been worried about whether their sons and daughters would be able to attend school this year—were overcome with relief. Their first response was to lift their thanks to the LORD. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). We are so grateful for child sponsors who are making this promise tangible in these families’ lives.

In addition to school-age children, we continue to care for the littlest ones through our START NOW Early Childhood Intervention program. These precious babies, many of whom are undernourished, are fed regularly with nourishing meals to support their growth and development. Feeding a baby may seem like a small act, but it’s an investment in a future filled with health and hope.

Children Taking Ownership (Dominican Republic)

From Luperón, Mèt Ben reported on the brand-new Hope Squad in Baraguana. When he challenged the children about finding a space for their gatherings, they quickly identified an area in the village but admitted it was dirty. Their response amazed him: they wanted to clean it themselves. The only thing they asked for was food—and then they insisted that the work must come before the meal. Even toddlers joined in, working hard together before enjoying their food. What an incredible picture of diligence, teamwork, and ownership!

The Power of Unity (Haiti)

Zacharie shared about this year’s church conference in Grand-Goâve. The spirit of unity was so strong, he said, it reminded him of Jesus’ promise in Matthew 18:20: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” The members of the church served with joy and grace, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Zacharie also emphasized how grateful he is that MOHI cares not only for social projects, but also for the spiritual lives of people—helping them to discover who they truly are in Christ.

That same spirit of unity is evident in our medical and dental clinics in Haiti. The staff in the clinics, pharmacy, and lab work hand in hand to care for each patient. Their collaboration creates not only efficiency, but also a safe and welcoming environment where patients know they are valued and loved. We are especially thankful for our partners at Bless Back Worldwide, whose support makes it possible for these clinics to operate with excellence and compassion. For many who come through our doors, this unity in care is as healing as the treatments they receive.

Seeds in the Ground (Dominican Republic)

Growth is happening in many ways in the DR. Boss Brazile and Willie were hard at work tilling the large garden—an effort that will help feed many.

Nurse Marlouse has been faithfully visiting patients in their homes and neighborhoods, providing care, comfort, and education.

Bruno continues to inspire students as he teaches English and computer skills, opening up new opportunities for the futures of these young people.

And our local partner, Esther, Luperón's Elementary School Director, was thrilled to welcome students for the first day of classes.

Each of these moments is a reminder that what we plant together will bear fruit in its own time (Galatians 6:9).

A Call to Action

This week, we saw the relief and joy of mothers in Haiti as they learned their children had been sponsored and could attend school this year. Would you prayerfully consider sponsoring a child? Your “yes” can answer the prayer of another mother longing to see her child fed, educated, and growing in the love of Christ.

Gratitude

As always, we are so thankful for each of you who pray, volunteer, and give to Mission of Hope International. We couldn’t do this without you. “Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24). Together, we are stirring hope, faith, and love in communities across Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Thank you!!!
