A Dieu Mama

Thursday, June 25th, Lex's mom, Lexida Augustin Edme, passed into eternity. She suffered terribly with Alzheimer's disease for decades. She was a woman of strong faith who trusted Jesus with her life. We rejoice that she is free from her feeble body of flesh and is now dancing with Jesus in a place more beautiful than she could ever have imagined. Still, for those of us who remain, the matriarch of the family will be missed. The memories created with her will continue to be told for generations to come. I'm pretty sure each one of her children believe that they were her favorite child. I'm even more sure that they were. Each child is cherished uniquely and Mme. Thermeus loved all 8 of

Father's Day 2020

Happy Father's Day to all the dads! I have seen so often the change in a man when he becomes a father. I've seen the change in my husband as he became a grandfather. Both the father and the child are bettered by the relationship. I love it! Pastor Lex has very much taken on the role of a fatherly mentor to so many young people (and quite a few older ones, too) in Haiti. What a blessing it is to me when I see people seek him out to ask for counsel ... And when I see him making decisions for the sake of others, even when it makes his life a little more difficult or less comfortable. I respect him immensely every day, but today I want to honor him by letting you all know that, too. Happy

Fill the Bus (week 2)

Last week I shared a list of items we'd like to gather to pack on the bus that's going to Haiti. I'll include it below for those of you who would still like to get involved. Lex and I have been keeping an eye out for things, too. We found some commercial round tables that will be perfect for teams to eat at under the "choukoun" (for those who haven't been to MOHI in Haiti, that's a big, round pavilion that is used for living and dining ... some people even choose to sleep under it in hammocks)...a few plumbing supplies...folding panels... This is the last week to donate supplies to make it on the bus, so please do reach out to me by email at to make arrange

Fill the Bus

While in the States we seem to be cautiously winding down from the pandemic, in Haiti cases are definitely on the increase. The Ministry of Public Health reported today that there have been 3,072 confirmed cases to date. There are only 2 laboratories in the entire country authorized to test for COVID-19. You can imagine how overwhelmed they are and how impossible it is to gather accurate information. Most people who get ill never go to the hospital. We are receiving reports of normally healthy individuals suffering with fevers, body aches, bad headaches, etc. for about 2-3 days and then they recover. Others (elderly and people with health issues) have been dying at home. We don't know

Double Dipping Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day - again! Today we celebrate Mother's Day in Haiti. It's sweet for all the missionary moms serving in Haiti, as we get 2 days of special recognition! Happy Mother's Day to all our special moms in Haiti today!!! As we celebrate Mother's Day, I can't help but think of George Floyd calling out to his Mama during his last moments of life. It's been a difficult season on so many fronts here in the US. I find myself not knowing just how to praying. I know that God works all things together for good for those who are called according to His purpose. Sometimes that path can be very difficult and painful. I know that it is HIS will that all would be saved - coming into the kn
